Dear CSE Community and Visitors

The Charter School of Excellence (CSE) is unique and meets the needs of students who have not found the success they desire in their previous schools. This is the fundamental rationale as to why the City of Erie School District asked us to collaborate with them and open our doors in 2003. Since that time, CSE has been committed to a focus that includes academics, soft skill work development, and social emotional learning. The Future Ready Index does not provide all of the outcomes that represent who we are, what we believe and the success so many of our students have found. There is no disagreement that our efforts must continue to improve relative to the standardized testing for PSSA and Keystones. However, the data does not reflect the success that many of our students experience. I have presented our students with an opportunity to express their opinions and beliefs surrounding key areas identified within the PDE Future Ready Index report, which are highlighted in the following video. Please take the time to hear from our students and their response to these very critical questions. I would also ask you to review the staff and student testimonials to gain better insight of who CSE is and an understanding of the positive impact found within our school.
